Gentle Yoga ~ 11:00 – 11:45 am

Celeste Atterberry

Celeste Atterberry

Gentle yoga with Celeste offers students the chance to experience the softer side of yoga. Linking breath with simple movement can help bring peace to the mind and ease pain and tension in the body.

This class is full of modifications for all levels and body types focusing on alignment of poses over depth allowing the body to open safely. Every body has its own unique history ~ gentle yoga can give you the opportunity to work with those challenges and come away feeling confident and successful.

Celeste Atterberry For the past couple years Celeste has been teaching gentle yoga in Anacortes. In 2011 to deepen her own practice she traveled to Costa Rica where she received 200 hours of teacher training. She also has 200 hours of Anusara training and over 50 hours of yoga as therapy training. She loves being able to offer gentle yoga classes believing that yoga has the power to soften and open both body and mind.

Gentle Flow ~ 12:00 – 12:45 pm

Annie Taylor

Annie Taylor

Annie Taylor started her yoga practice in 1997 at the YMCA in West Seattle. She describes it as a humbling and life-changing experience.  Always having the ability to touch her toes, she could not balance in a tree pose. She quickly realized everyone’s yoga practice is unique and that it’s personally different every day. “Our bodies are amazing with what we ask of them on a daily basis. Yoga is a wonderful way of giving back to the body, spirit and mind.  Annie’s focus is in alignment principles and muscle energy. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance since Oct 2012. She holds classes Mondays at 6 pm, Tuesday at 5:30pm and Wednesdays at 5:45am and 8am. Please check the studio schedule for other classes!

Kriya Flow Yoga ~ 1:00 – 1:45 pm

Join Vicky for a class of playful yoga kriyas to awaken your energy, warm the body, and invite the mind to let go.  Kriya, which literally means “action” in Sanskrit, is a combination of breath and movement that is repetitive, flowing, and meditative. These are easy to learn and accessible to everyone, and a wonderful practice for relieving anxiety. Immerse yourself in moving meditation!

Victoria Thulman

Victoria Thulman

Victoria Thulman has been practicing different styles of yoga for many years and completed her 200 RYT teaching certification in January 2014 through study with Jaya Yoga in Hood River, OR.  A dancer all her life, Vicky was drawn to the challenging physical practice of yoga, but after breaking her back in 2011, her practice deepened and shifted, and yoga became a powerful healing force in her life. Vicky believes that yoga connects us to our body, breath, and inner heart wisdom, and she teaches sustainable yoga for life, encouraging students to develop kinesthetic awareness and practice safely in their own optimal range of motion.  By integrating slow vinyasa and kriya flows into her classes, Vicky helps students develop strength and stability but also relax, release, and discover the joyful, playful freedom of yoga.  Vicky provides props and modifications, invites questions, and welcomes laughter whenever it comes. Prior yoga experience is helpful.

Myth and Yoga ~ 3:00 – 3:45 pm

Kit Muelhman

Kit Muelhman

In the stories of gods and goddesses of long ago, we follow the journey from the known to the unknown and back, discovering surprising resources and inner wisdom.  This class will explore hip openers as a therapeutic tool to stabilize the low back.  Working with the same bodies we sometimes find very limited, we may uncover extraordinary powers.  Guest deity to be announced at the beginning of class.

Kit Muehlman has lived through movement: ballet classes at 5 years old, three years as a high school majorette, and dancing to rhythm and blues. She’s also been fascinated with things unseen and magical. Yoga practice helps channel the fidgeting, and the practice is a way of dancing between the seen and the unseen. In practical terms, yoga has helped Kit heal from 8 automobile collisions, from ski injuries, and from arthritis.

Kit’s first yoga practice was the “Jane Fonda Pregnancy Workout” in 1983. Soon she was taking classes from dunja lingwood in Anacortes, WA. She began teaching in 1999, and achieved Anusara-Inspired licensing in 2007. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher, RYT500 with Yoga Alliance. Her classes aim to be challenging and lighthearted, therapeutic and emotionally grounding. Her style is warm and compassionate, and loves working individually with private clients as well as teaching public classes. Her motto is “Everyone can do yoga”.

Kit’s teaches at studios in Anacortes and La Conner, and her schedule can be found at blissdogyoga.com.

Kit is a serious student of meditation, and she is a professional hypnotherapist, finding hypnotherapy to be much like guided meditation. She assists in art education at the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, and is the mother of two wonderful children.
